Mayor Ivan Ivanovich Khaustov

Ivan Khaustov was born in 1917.

At the time of the German attack on the Soviet Union in June 1941, Leytenant Khaustov served in the 153 IAP, which was equipped with the Polikarpov I-153.

During June, he was transferred to 197 IAP, which also was equipped with the I-153.

On 20 August, he claimed his two first victories when he claimed two Bf109s, one over Chudovo and one over Ivankovo

In October 1941, he was posted to 440 IAP. This unit was at the time equipped with MiG-3s.

He was posted to 157 IAP in 1942. During his time with this unit, he flew Hawker Hurricanes, Yak-7s and Yak-9s.

In October 1943, he was posted to 21 IAP. During his time with this unit, he flew La-5s and La-7s.

In early 1944, his La-5 was shot down but he survived to return safely to his unit.

By the end of 1944, he had flown more than 400 sorties.

On 6 March 1945, he did not return from a combat sortie.

At the time of his death, Khaustov was credited with 2 biplane victories and a total of 10.
During his career, he had been decorated with the Order of Lenin.
