NAP 1/C H. Ichikawa
In February 1942 Ichikawa served on the seaplane tender Sagara Maru flying the Mitsubishi F1M2 ‘Pete’ biplane scout.
On 1 February 1942 he encountered two flyingboats near the Anambas Island, east of Malaysia, which he at once attacked. After a combat lasting 25 minutes, during which he made three attacking passes, in which his rear gunner also participated, all ammunition was exhausted. One of the flyingboats was seen leaving a substantial trail of leaking oil, and he claimed it as a probable.
Ichikawa ended the war with 1 probable biplane victory.
