Amel’chenko was born in 1908.

Kapitan Amel’chenko served in 347 IAP from November 1941. This unit was at the time equipped with Polikarpov I-153s.

He left 347 IAP in July 1942, when he was posted to 133 IAP.

He remained with 133 IAP unit until August 1943.

In October 1943, he was posted to 148 IAP.

He left 148 IAP in June 1944, when he was posted to the HQ of 236 IAD where he remained until the war in Europe ended in May 1945.

Podpolkovnik Amel’chenko ended the war with 2 biplane victories and a total of 4.
These had been claimed during 184 combat missions and 28 air combats.
