Il’ya Anikeyev was born in 1909.
He graduated from Odessa Flight School in 1934.
Kapitan Anikeyev served as a volunteer in the Sino-Japanese War between October 1939 and September 1940.
He worked as an instructor at an air school and didn’t fly any combat missions.
When Germany invaded the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, kapitan Anikeyev served in 591 IAP. This regiment was equipped with Polikarpov I-153s.
Anikeyev left 591 IAP on 5 October 1943, when he was posted as CO of 573 IAP.
Podpolkovnik Anikeyev ended the war with 2 biplane victories.
These had been claimed during 83 combat missions and 10 air combats (as of 7 September 1944).
Anikeyev left the command of 573 IAP on 11 February 1946.
