Kapitan Ivan Sergeyevich Basov

1910 –

Ivan Basov was born in 1910.

He graduated from flight school at Stalingrad in 1933.

Starshiy leytenant Basov took part in the conflict with Japan at Lake Khasan in 1938 flying I-16s in 1 IAP of the Navy.

When Germany invaded the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, kapitan Basov served in 2./8 IAP-ChF, which operated in the Black Sea Fleet with I-153s.

On 8 December, Basov was decorated with the Order of the Red Banner.

In January 1942, he was posted to 62 IAP-ChF. When he arrived, this unit had been pulled back into reserve and was in the process of retraining on the Yak-1 and LaGG-3.
On 15 July, 62 IAP-ChF became operational again and by 20 July, they had 20 operational LaGG-3s and nine operational Yak-1s.

In November 1942, he was posted to 7 IAP-ChF.

He returned to 62 IAP-ChF in May 1943.

On 30 August 1944, he was decorated with the Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class.

He left 62 IAP-ChF in September 1944.

Basov ended the war with 2 biplane victories and a total of 4.
These had been claimed during 316 combat missions (as of 12 July 1944).

He was decorated with the Order of the Red Star on 30 April 1947.
In 1951, he received a second Order of the Red Banner.
On 11 March 1985, he was decorated with a second Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class.
