Yevgeniy Bocharov was born in Fesyury on 17 March 1921.

He joined the Red Army on 25 March 1939.

In December 1941, mladshiy leitenant Bocharov was posted to 659 IAP, flying I-15bis with this unit.

On 2 February 1942, he claimed a Ju 87 while still flying the I-15bis.

Bocharov was posted from 659 IAP on 15 March 1942 and posted to 12 IAP in May the same year.
With this unit, Bocharov flew Yak-1s, Yak-7s and Yak-9s.

Sometimes in 1942, he received a light wound in the head.

On 25 August 1942, Bocharov and serzhant Viktor Tsymbal claimed one Bf 109 each over Stalingrad.

In January 1943, he took part in ”Operation Iskra” with his unit on the Volkhov Front.

On 1 May 1943, the 12 IAP became the 89 GIAP.

When the war ended, major Bocharov served as CO of 3./89 GIAP.

Major Bocharov ended the war with 1 biplane victory and a total of 11.
These were claimed during 132 combat missions and 36 air battles.

He continued to serve in the Air Force after the war.
On 9 June 1955, podpolkovnik Bocharov was placed in the reserve and on 25 May 1960, polkovnik Bocharov was retired.
