Major Aleksandr Zakharovich Dudnik

1910 – 2 August 1944

Aleksandr Dudknik was born in 1910.

Leitenant Dudnik took part in the Soviet-Finnish Winter War between November 1939 and March 1940.
In November 1939, he served in 5 SAP but in January 1940, he was posted to 147 IAP and with this unit he flew Polikarpov I-15bis but without claiming anything.

On 7 May 1940, he was decorated with the Order of the Red Banner.

When Germany invaded the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, starshiy leitenant Dudnik still served in 147 IAP and was still flying I-15bis. This unit operated on the Northern Front.

On 9 August 1941, he was decorated with a second Order of the Red Banner.

In February 1942, he left 147 IAP and was posted to 152 IAP.

He left 152 IAP in September 1942 when he was posted to 609 IAP.

In November 1943, he left 609 IAP and was posted to 159 IAP.

On 2 August 1944, major Dudnik didn’t return from a combat mission.

At the time of his death, Dudnik was credited with 3 shared biplane victories and a total of 4.
During his combat career, he flew I-15bis, MiG-3, LaGG-3, Hurricane and La-5.
