Semen Indyk was born in 1909.

He graduated from Kachinskaya Flight School in 1933.

Starshiy leitenant Indyk served in 44 IAP during the Soviet-Finnish Winter War between November 1939 and March 1940, flying Polikarpov I-153s.

When Germany invaded the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, kapitan Indyk served in 194 IAP.

He was posted away from 194 IAP in November 1941.

In September 1942, he was posted to 291 IAP.

He left 291 IAP in November 1942.

In December 1942, he became CO of 867 IAP.

On 24 August 1943, the regiment became a guard’s unit and renamed to 107 GIAP.

Podpolkovnik Indyk ended the war with 1 shared biplane victory and a total of 4.
These had been claimed during 93 combat missions and 21 air combats.
The list of Indyk’s claims is incomplete due to lack of documents.

On 27 June 1945, Indyk was decorated with the Gold Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union and the Order of Lenin.

Indyk left 107 GIAP on 31 December 1945.

Podpolkovnik Indyk served in 535 IAP in Korea between September 1952 and July 1953, flying MiG-15s.
