Ivan Izokh was born in Klichevo in 1918.

He joined the Red Army in 1938 and in the same year, he graduated from Borisogleb Military Aviation School of Pilots.

In December 1941, starshiy leitenant Izokh was posted to 482 IAP, which operated on the Transcaucasian Front. The unit was equipped with Polikarpov I-153s.

He is reported to have claimed one and one destroyed Ju 88 in September 1942 and this probably took place before 16 September since on this date the unit was withdrawn from combat to retrain on LaGG-3s.

The retraining ended on 10 December and between 15 December and 26 February 1943, the unit served in the Moscow air defence. On 27 February, the unit was again withdrawn for retraining, this time on La-5s. The retraining ended on 24 June.

On 7 July, 482 IAP again went into combat as part of 322 IAD on the Bryansk Front.

On 3 August, starshiy leitenant Izokh didn’t return after a combat mission.

At the time of his death, Izokh was credited with 1 biplane victory and a total of 12.
These had been claimed during approximately 200 combat missions.
