Major Mikhail Mikhaylovich Kostikov
1919 –
Mikhail Kostikov was born in 1919.
When German attacked the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, mladshiy leitenant Kostikov served in 127 IAP, which was equipped with Polikarpov I-153s.
He left 127 IAP in December 1941 and was posted to 179 IAP in April 1942.
He was to serve with this unit during the remain of the war and with this unit he flew Hurricanes, Yak-1s and Yak-9s.
Kostikov and Vasiliy Bocharov claimed one Bf 109 each over Shurami on 8 December 1944.
Kostikov ended the war with 3 shared biplane victories and a total of 10.
These had been claimed during around 320 combat missions and around 60 air combats.
During the war, he was decorated with the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner (four times) and the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st and 2nd Class.
