Leytenant Sergey Afanas'yevich Murzin
1918 – July 1941
Sergey Murzin was born in 1918.
Mladshiy leytenant Murzin took part in the Finnish-Soviet Winter War from November 1939 to March 1940, serving in 49 IAP and flying Polikarpov I-15bis with this unit.
On 19 May 1940, he was decorated with the Order of Lenin.
When Germany invaded the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, leytenant Murzin still served 49 IAP but was now flying Polikarpov I-153s.
The unit operated on the North-Western Front.
Sometimes in July 1941, he failed to return from a combat mission.
On 25 July, he was decorated with the Order of the Red Banner (posthumous?).
At the time of his death, Murzin was credited with 3 biplane victories.
