Nikolay Naumov was born in 1917.
Leitenant Naumov took part in the Finnish-Soviet Winter War from December 1939 to March 1940, serving in 38 IAP and flying Polikarpov I-153s with this unit.
When Germany invaded the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, leitenant Naumov still served in 38 IAP, flying Polikarpov I-153s.
The unit operated on the North-Western Front.
On 11 February 1942, Lazar Chapchakhov claimed two shared Ju 88s between Dorokhovo – Lyubytovo. These were claimed together with four other pilots and it’s possible that one of these pilots was starshiy leytenant Naumov since it’s known that he claimed two shared Ju 88s during the day.
Four LaGG-3s from 38 IAP claimed two shared Ju 88s over Podsosen'ye and south of Staraya Russa on 17 February. Known claiming pilots were Nikolay Gruzdev and possibly Naumov since it’s known that he claimed two shared Ju 88s during the day.
On 22 February 1942, he was killed in air combat.
At the time of his death, Naumov was credited with 1 shared biplane victory and a total of 2.
These had been claimed during 143 combat missions and 28 air combats.
