Kapitan Sergei Pavlovich Putyakov

1912 – 17 February 1942

Sergei Putyakov was born in 1912.

He joined the Red Army in 1934.

On 12 July 1941, starshii leitenant Putyakov joined 29 IAP, which was equipped with Polikarpov I-153s and I-16s.

He was transferred to 127 IAP on 22 September and continued to fly I-153s and I-16s with this unit, which at the time was tasked with escorting transport aircraft to the besieged Leningrad and covering the ice roads over Ladoga.
The unit was transferred away on 31 December 1941.

He was decorated with the Order of the Red Star on 6 December.

On 17 February 1942, kapitan Putyakov was killed in air combat near the village of Novaya Maluks on the Leningrad Front.
At the time he was CO of 2./127 IAP.

At the time of his death Putyakov was credited with 5 victories.
These had been claimed during more than 200 combat missions and more than 20 air combats.
