General Major Vladimir Vasil’evich Puzeikin

1913 – 3 September 1986

Vladimir Puzeikin was born in 1913.

Puzeikin joined the Red Army in 1932.

He was a zvena CO in 11 IAE, 111 IAB in the Leningrad Military District.
He volunteered for service in Spain and begun his duty on 3 January 1937, shipping out with a group of Leningraders. It seems that he flew to Cartagena in a Lockheed together with Rosmarin, an American flying for the Republic.
Leitenant Puzeikin served in in Patrulla Zakharov in Escuadrilla Osadchii, which was equipped with I-15s.

On 14 March 1937, Frank Tinker took off in an I-15 (CA-056) from Guadalajara. During the two-hour mission he claimed one CR.32 before landing at Valencia.
A second CR.32 was claimed as a shared by capitán Alonso Jiménez Bruguet and Puzeikin over Trijueque in the Guadalajara area.

In April, he switched to I-16s in Escuadrilla Kolesnikov after that Georgiy Zakharov left Spain.

Puzeikin left Spain on 7 September 1937.

Puzeikin was awarded the Order of the Red Banner twice – 27 June 1937 and 11 November 1937.

He was CO of 2 IAP before the start of the Second World War and the became Flight Inspector of 38 IAD.

In the fall of 1941, he was appointed CO of 127 Warsaw Red Banner IAP.

On 28 February 1942, he was awarded the Order of Lenin.

Puzeikin ended the war with 1 shared biplane victory.

He retired as a General Major.

Puzeikin passed away on 3 September 1986.
