Major Dimitry Ivanovich Rodin

1906 – 12 January 1943

Dimitry Rodin was born in 1906.

From December 1941, Kapitan Rodin served in 269 IAP, flying Polikarpov I-153s.

He left 87 IAP in May 1942 and in July the same year, he was posted to 520 IAP. With this unit he flew Yak-1s.

On 12 December 1942, Vladimir Kitayev (283 IAD) and Rodin (520 IAP) claimed one Ju 52/3m each between Krivomuzchinskaya and Bol'shaya Rossoshka. Kitayev claimed an additional Bf 109 in the same area.

Major Rodin was shot down and killed in air combat on 12 January 1943.

At the time of his death, Rodin was credited with 1 biplane victory and a total of 8.
These had been claimed during 145 combat missions (as off 10 April 1942).
During his career he had been decorated with the Order of the Red Banner (twice).
