Mikhail Selyankin was born in 1918.
He graduated from Chuguyevskoye VAUL flight school in 1940.
When Germany invaded the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, mladshiy leitenant Selyankin served in 9 IAP-ChF, which was part of the Air Force of the Black Sea Fleet. This unit was equipped with Polikarpov I-15bis.
He was posted from 9 IAP-ChF in January 1942 when he was posted to 3 IAP-ChF.
In July 1942, he was posted from 3 IAP-ChF back to 9 IAP-ChF.
In December 1942, he was posted from 9 IAP-ChF to 6 GIAP-ChF.
On 1 April 1944, starshiy leitenant Selyankin was killed in air combat.
