Kapitan Vasily Ivanovich Shkomov

1915 –

Shkomov was born in 1915.

As a Leitenant in 70 IAP and flying I-16s, he took part in the Nomonhan conflict with Japan.

On 5 July 1939, he was shot down in a dogfight and evacuated wounded to a hospital.

Starshii Leitenant Shkomov served in 133 IAP from February 1942. This unit was at the time equipped with Polikarpov I-153s and served on the Crimean Front.

On 25 June 1942, they moved away from the front to retrain and between June and September they were re-equipped with Yak-7Bs.

He was decorated with the Order of the Red Banner on 8 July 1942.

On 17 October, 133 IAP went into combat but this time on the Kalinin Front.

He was posted away from combat flying on 30 October 1942.

Shkomov ended the war with 2 biplane victories and a total of 4.
These had been claimed during 55 combat missions and 15 air combats (as of 25 March 1942).
