Fedor Vasilenko was born in 1921.
When Germany invaded the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, leitenant Vasilenko served in 92 IAP. This regiment belonged to the South-Western Front and was equipped with Polikarpov I-153s.
Between 15 September and 26 September, the regiment was surrounded in the Kiev ”cauldron” but the flying personnel flew from Kiev to Kharkov while the ground personnel broke out by force.
Between 1 October 1941 and February 1942, the regiment was reorganised and also retrained on the LaGG-3.
On 8 March, the went back to combat with their LaGG-3s on the Volkhov Front.
The regiment was understaffed and thus was held in reserve between 15 April and 18 May when they went back to combat operations on the Volkhov Front.
Leitenant Vasilenko died of wounds on 25 July 1942.
At the time of his death, Vasilenko was credited with 2 biplane victories and a total of 6.
These had been claimed during 320 combat missions.
