Leytenant Anatoliy Vasil'yevich Yeliseyev

1918 – 31 March 1942

Anatoliy Yeliseyev was born in 1918.

He graduated from the flight school in Borisoglebskaya in 1938.

Mladshiy leytenant Yeliseyev took part in the Finnish-Soviet Winter War.
Between December 1939 and January 1940, he served in the mixed aviation regiment 80 SAP flying Polikarpov I-153s. He was then posted to 152 IAP, still flying I-153s. He remained with this unit until the end of the conflict in March.
Yeliseyev didn’t make any claims during the Winter War.

In 1940, he was decorated ”for courage”.

Leytenant Yeliseyev didn’t immediately enter combat when Germany invaded the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941 but in October 1941, he was posted to 147 IAP, which was equipped with I-153s and operated on the Karelian Front.

During the winter of 1941-1942, they started to re-equip with Tomahawks.

Six Tomahawks flying a mission between Lake Kuik-Yavr - Lubol - Lake Yal-Yavr became involved in combat with Bf 109s on 13 February 1942, claiming five of them shot down as shared among the pilots. Known pilots taking part where leytenant Yeliseyev, leytenant Aleksei Khlobystov and leytenant Nikolay Yurilin.

On 31 March 1942, he didn’t return from a combat mission.

At the time of his death, Yeliseyev was credited with 1 shared biplane victory and a total of 2.
These had been claimed in 112 combat missions.

Yeliseyev was decorated with two Orders of the Red Banner posthumously (1 May 1942 and 24 August 1942).
