Mikhail Yurkin was born in 1919.

In February 1942, Leitenant Yurkin served in 133 IAP, flying Polikarpov I-153s with this unit. This unit operated on the Crimean Front.

In June 1942, he was posted away from 133 IAP.

On 3 November 1942, he was decorated with the Order of the Red Banner.

He was posted to 1 GIAP in April 1943. With this unit he flew first Yak-7s and later Yak-1s.

On 8 August 1943, he was decorated with a second Order of the Red Banner.

Kapitan Yurkin did not return from a combat mission on 6 November 1943.

At the time of his death, Yurkin was credited with 4 shared biplane victories and a total of 2.
