Pavel Dankevich was born in 1918.

He graduated from Voroshilovgradskaya flight school in 1936.

Leitenant Dankevich took part in the Soviet-Finnish Winter War in 1939-1940 where he served in 42 DBAP flying DB-3s.

In December 1941, starshiy leitenant Dankevich was posted to 347 IAP, which was equipped with Polikarpov I-153s and started combat operations on the Crimean Front on 9 December 1941.
Dankevich was to remain in this unit throughout the war.

On 20 July 1942, the regiment transferred to the North Caucasian Front but already on 14 August, they were sent to the rear for retraining.

In the beginning of 1943, they retrained on the Yak-9.

The regiment went back to combat operations on 8 May 1943, equipped with Yak-9s.

347 IAP fought with FW 190s over Ol'khovatka on 5 July 1943 and starshiy leitenant Timofey Ivliyev claimed one over the city while Dankevich claimed one east of the city.

Dankevich became CO of 347 IAP on 6 July 1943.

Dankevich ended the war with 1 shared biplane victory and a total of 6.
These had been claimed during 317 combat missions (as of 4 April 1945).

Dankevich left the command of 347 IAP on 31 December 1945.

He passed away on 28 May 1988.
