Mladshiy Leitenant Grigoriy Yefremovich Murzin

1919 – January 1942

Grigoriy Murzin was born in 1919.

When Germany invaded the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, mladshiy leitenant Murzin served in 91 IAP. At this time this regiment was flying Polikarpov I-153s on the South-Western Front.

On 3 July, the I-153s from 91 IAP clashed with Bf 109s. Mladshiy leitenant Konstantin Pavlov claimed four shared Bf 109s over Shepetovka together with mladshiy leitenant Murzin and four other pilots. One of the shared was also credited to mladshiy leitenant Dmitriy Kovtyulev.
Mladshiy leitenant Kovtyulev claimed an additional Bf 109 over Slavuta while mladshiy leitenant Murzin also claimed an additional Bf 109 during the day but at an unknown place.

Between 11 August and 10 October, 91 IAP retrained on the LaGG-3.

On 12 October 1941, 91 IAP became operational again with LaGG-3s on the South-Western Front.

Mladshiy leitenant Murzin didn’t return from a combat mission in January 1942.

At the time of his death, Murzin was credited with 1 biplane victory.
