Starshiy Leitenant Stepan Grigor'yevich Petrov

1917 –

Stepan Petrov was born in 1917.

He graduated from flight school in 1940.

When Germany invaded the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, mladshiy leitenant Petrov served in 8 IAP-ChF of the Black Sea Fleet. This regiment was equipped with Polikarpov I-153s.

He was decorated with the Order of the Red Banner on 13 May 1942.

He was decorated with a second Order of the Red Banner on 15 April 1944.

On 3 April 1942, 8 IAP-ChF became a guard’s unit and renamed to 6 GIAP-ChF.

Petrov continued to serve in 6 GIAP-ChF until the end of the war.

Petrov ended the war with 1 biplane victory and a total of 2.
These had been claimed during 452 combat missions and 5 air combats.

Pavlov was decorated with the Order the Patriotic War 1st Class on 26 May 1945.

He received a second Order the Patriotic War 1st Class on 11 March 1985.
