Kapitan Ivan K. Tumanov

Tumanov was a veteran from the Spanish Civil War.

In 1941, he served as CO of an Eskadrilya of the 72 SmAP-SF, which was equipped with a mixture of Polikarpov I-152s and I-153s. The unit operated in the defence of Murmansk.

On 29 June 1941, he claimed a Junkers over his own airfield (Vayenga) while flying an I-153.

He claimed another enemy aircraft on 9 August 1941 while flying an I-153.
This claim was probalby made against Luftflotte 5, which attacked Vayenga twice during the day and the pilots of 72 SmAP-SF took off and fought vigorously against both raids.

Tumanov ended the war with 2 biplane victories.
