During the Winter War between Finland and Soviet Union (30 November 1939 to 13 March 1940) a small Swedish voluntary unit served in the Finnish Air Force (other larger Swedish voluntary units served in the other Finnish branches of the armed forces). Some Swedes also served as volunteers in the Finnish Air Force both during the Winter War and later during the Continuation War (1941-44).
